Jacq Smith

BIO

Jacq Smith is a Vancouver-based artist whose dynamic performance ability, and versatile background, inform her work in dance, theatre, choreography, and film. 

 

Performance has been an integral part of Jacq’s life since the age of 4. She is a graduate of the Edmonton School of Ballet’s professional program, and has studied across Canada, embracing numerous styles of dance throughout her life. Jacq has trained independently in voice, acting, and circus, and is consistently expanding her repertoire in the performing arts. She has spent the past three summers with Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, participating in dance and choreography residencies, under the Artistic Direction of Emily Nolnar.

 

Jacq has performed throughout North America alongside companies such as Gateway Theatre, Alberta Ballet, The Lovers Cabaret, and 49th Parallel Dance Company. Select performance credits include: Broadway Melody Soloist/Dance Captain for Singin in the Rain (RCMT), Pointe Soloist/Dance Captain for Yellowpoint Christmas Spectacular (Razzle Dazzle Productions), Workspace III (the response.), The Lady M (Bard Lab/Bard on The Beach), Dance Captain for Anything Goes (RCMT), and the award-winning production of Crazy For You (Gateway). 

 

As a dance educator and choreographer, Jacq has worked across Canada on both large and small scale productions and shares her love of dance with everyone she encounters. Select choreography credits: Small Stage (Movement Enterprises Society), Cabaret (Assistant Choreographer – RCMT), Honey Dance Company (Harbour Dance Centre), and West Side Story (Assistant Choreographer – TUTS). She lives to create lines on the body and tell stories through her work.
