BIO

Jonathan Zolina, better known by his stage name as Jojo Dancer is a Filipino/Canadian Artistic Director, Choreographer, Performer, Event Producer and Actor and best known for continually trail-blazing a style and standard that has filtered itself into today’s mainstream dance world. With unstoppable artistry, Jojo has continued to reinvent a technique that has quickly become coveted by several artists, including, Madonna, Nelly Furtado, Michael Buble and La Roux. His craft has given him the opportunity to travel all over the globe, as far as Russia, India, Japan, France, Spain, Amsterdam and Middle East to represent and share his art. His fluid, signature style has captured audiences internationally at events such as London, Paris, Toronto and Vancouver Fashion Week. He is a well known commodity in the dance industry worldwide earning the respect from the best in the business.

 

Among his noteworthy achievements, Jojo has performed in several feature films and television series’ including, Aaliyah Bio Epic, Pacific Rim, RAGS, Dr. Doolittle 3, Reefer Madness, The Next Step, The L-Word, Eureka, and Caprica

 

Jojo also played the main character in the award winning stage musical for the Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival 2015, Prison Dancer. He’s one of the Original Cast of 2016 Spectra’s Cabaret and Pixel in Royal Caribbean Cruise Line. His diverse skill set led him to other opportunities including, creative director for GSG Productions, in which he has choreographed music videos for Cory Lee, Brock Zanrosso (YTV), and performed with Michael Buble, K-OS, La Roux, and Nelly Furtado, the 2013 Beauties of Asia Pageant and Miss Philippines Beauty Pageant. He also was a judge for New Music Live on Much Music, and a choreographer for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics

 

In an effort to help strengthen community and inspire youth to realize their creativity he has started several dance crews in Canada such as Over The Influence (Hip Hop), House of La Douche (Waacking and Vogue), Bucky TOP (Dancehall),  Waacouture (Waacking) Disco Love Child (House and Waacking) and House of Dangerkat (Various Artists).

 

Believing dance can break barriers and inspire change, Jojo has become a dance alchemist, boldly melding elements of ethnic folk dance, hip hop, funk, vogueing, waacking, house, reggaeton, dancehall, contemporary and salsa. He has studied under and worked with some of the most renowned names in the business including Martha Carter and Jennifer Mascall, several Modern Dance Companies to Street dance pioneers like Mop Top Crew, Electric Boogaloos, IHOW, and House of Xtravaganza.

 

Jojo is excited to be back to his roots, Vancouver, Canada where he got his start as a freestyle dancer to now share his knowledge and expertise and continue to inspire change through self expression and the shared dance experience.
