BIO

Josh Mendonca is a professional dancer born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. He began his dance training at the early age of three at The Dance Factory where he immersed himself into the numerous dance genres that were offered.

In his graduation year of high school, Josh started training under IllFX Hip Hop Company where he began diving deeper into Hip Hop along with many of the sub-genres that accompany it such as Vogueing, Whaacking, House and Locking. This training opportunity gifted Josh with some of the skills needed to secure his first assisting job with Triple Threat Dance Convention where he had the incredible opportunity to work alongside industry professionals such as Megan Lawson, Jillian Meyers, Tyce Diorio, Comfort Fedoke and Kelly Konno.

Post-Graduation, Josh made the decision to take his talents to Vancouver and take part in the Intensive Training Program based out of Harbour Dance Center under the direction of Moe Brody. That same year, Josh auditioned for and was accepted to be a part of the hip hop crew “Brotherhood Varsity” where they went on to compete and win at Artists Emerge Dance Competition. Shortly following the completion of the Intensive Training Program, Josh was hired as a dancer for Netflix’s series Julie and the Phantoms where he was able to work closely with Kenny Ortega and Louise Hradsky as well as on multiple episodes of Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist on NBC where he had the pleasure of working with Emmy award winning choreographer Mandy Moore. Josh has also recently worked on Nickelodeon’s production The J Team with choreographers Heather Laura Gray and Joe Tuliao. Other credits include DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Netflix’s The Main Event and the feature film The Honey Girls.

Currently, Josh finds himself training as a part of the most recent Hip Hop International National Champion Hip Hop crew “Northside” under direction of Adrian Vendiola & Kelvin Tu. He also is consistently taking classes in all genres at many studios around the city and most recently was gifted the incredible honour to teach a weekly drop-in class at The Studio North ran by Scott and Carmen Forsyth. Josh continues to find new ways to develop his skillset and is excited for any and all endeavours that the future throws his way.
