Valin Shinyei has numerous credits in the dance/acting/voice/musical theatre world. He comes from a family of artists with his mom Jocelyn Peden being a renowned choreographer and his younger sister Gracyn Shinyei an accomplished actor. Valin’s first job in the entertainment business was at the age of 6 where he started off in commercials and quickly moved into acting roles. His younger years were full of unique performing opportunities which included passing the torch to the Russians during the 2010 Paralympic Closing Ceremonies, being the master of ceremonies at the Themed Entertainment Awards in LA and sharing the stage for a special performance with Mickey Mouse. He has had extensive work in the voice-over world which has brought many lead roles his way. He is credited in more than 15 voice over series that span upwards of 200 episodes.
Valin’s acting credits include the TV series Riverdale, Supernatural and Smallville. He played the lead role of Jack in the movie Treasure Hound and played opposite Jennifer Love Hewitt and Cybil Sheppard in the Client List. One of Valin’s favorite movie roles was Randy Parker in A Christmas Story 2 which was his first opportunity at true physical comedy. He was able to play the lead role of Randy Parker again for 72 shows in the professional Arts Club presentation of A Christmas Story the Musical. Immediately following this show he started working on Billy Elliot the musical for the Arts Club where he gave a memorable performance as Michael, Billy’s gay cross-dressing best friend. Valin won a Jesse Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Professional Musical for this role. He also swung in for the lead role of Billy Elliot which included a flying/acrobatics scene in harness. “A dream come true” says Valin.
Valin’s versatility in the dance world has allowed him to experience many amazing projects. He was chosen from 100’s of young auditioners to perform with Justin Bieber on his Purpose World Tour Vancouver. He spent a few years of his dance training focused on contemporary & ballet as a grad student at the world-renowned Arts Umbrella. He trained under such famous choreographers as Crystal Pite, James Kudelka and Lucas Timulak. He has had many years of training on the dance convention circuit where he was awarded yearlong scholarships from Velocity, Nuvo, Jump, VIP and Groove Street Productions.
Valin has been emersed in dance, stage and acting since a baby in diapers and is excited to see where his artistry and passions takes him.
